Episode 24: A New Threat – The Overlords
Baron continues to attempt to defeat the Overlord Inves to no success until Malika suggests a new plan. Mitsuzane tries to get Kouta, now that he has the Peach Energy Lockseed, to track down the Overlords, while also finding out that DJ Sagara has been helping him all this time, leading him to wonder who Sagara really is and what his plans are.

- Overlord dialogue is now subtitled on all tracks. HUGE thanks go to the EXCITE! Subs team for giving me a hand with these as I recovered some of Magenta’s translations from an old dump of /m/, but some lines were still missing. Luckily, I also managed to obtain the original broadcast captions, which we deciphered to the correct hiragana, at which point it could be translated.

So, were you able to get the original broadcast captions for just this single episode or for more (or all) episodes? In other words, do any of the earlier episodes with Overlord-ese need a V2?

I got the captions for the entire series, but the Overlord lines only first showed up in Episode 23, and I got those translations from one of Magenta’s posts before the /m/ archive suddenly stopped displaying anything between mid-2012 and September 2015. I was just stupid and didn’t back up the rest of the post at the time, but even then, several lines were missing, and while a few translations are floating around online (and indeed, formed the basis of the translations I used here), some of them didn’t make sense in context. Anyway, long story short, the only lines at this point that I know of that are unsubbed are a couple in this episode when Kouta first fires up Jinba Peach and he hears them talking, but the captions for those lines just translated out as a sound effect of “distant muffled voices” or something like that, so we weren’t meant to know what was being said anyway.
